Himachal Police Seize ₹2.65 Crore in Assets from Drug Traffickers in Major Crackdown

In a decisive move under its intensified anti-narcotics campaign, Himachal Pradesh Police have seized assets worth over ₹2.65 crore from three individuals involved in drug trafficking. The confiscated assets include residential properties, vehicles, jewellery, and cash. This action forms part of the state’s strict enforcement of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The first case dates back to April 6, when a team from Dharamshala Police Station arrested Sanjay Kumar and Suman Kumari with 1.246 kilograms of charas (cannabis resin). Sanjay Kumar already has three prior cases registered under various sections of the NDPS Act and the Indian Penal Code.
Investigations revealed that Sanjay Kumar owns three houses valued at approximately ₹1.55 crore. Additionally, he possesses four vehicles—a Mahindra Scorpio, a Maruti Swift, a Royal Enfield motorcycle, and an Activa scooter—collectively valued at ₹4.49 lakh. His total estimated assets amount to ₹1.59 crore, which are now in the process of being legally seized.
The second case is from Kangra, where on November 6, 2024, police arrested Pawan Kumar and his wife Neena with narcotics, precious metals, and cash. They were found in possession of 26.10 grams of charas, 241 grams of gold, 1,207 grams of silver, and ₹44,580 in cash. Pawan Kumar has five prior cases under the NDPS Act.
According to police headquarters, Pawan Kumar owns three houses in Arla, Sakot, and Tarsuh villages, valued at ₹81.45 lakh. His movable assets—including jewellery and cash—are estimated at ₹24.67 lakh, bringing his total wealth to ₹1.06 crore. The seizure process is currently in its final stages.
This is not the first major action by Kangra Police. In an earlier case, they had seized property worth ₹51 lakh from another drug trafficker, underlining their continued efforts and commitment to dismantling the drug trade network in the region. All these actions are being carried out under the provisions of the NDPS Act.
