Shimla, May 10:
Amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, police in Shimla have registered an FIR against a youth for allegedly sharing anti-national content on social media. The case has been filed at the Sunni police station in the district.
The complaint was lodged by local resident Tek Chand Thakur and others, who reported that the individual had posted material on Facebook that could potentially incite communal unrest and pose a threat to national unity, integrity, and security. Following preliminary investigation, Sunni police booked Irshad, a resident of Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh, under Sections 196 and 197 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Authorities have seized the accused’s mobile phone and sent it for forensic analysis. Police emphasized that they are maintaining strict surveillance of social media platforms and will not tolerate any activity deemed anti-national. The investigation is currently ongoing.
