Jammu & Kashmir, May 9: Tensions along the Line of Control (LoC) between India and Pakistan have flared once again. On May 7, 2025, unprovoked shelling by Pakistani forces targeted a convent school in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, tragically killing two students and injuring several civilians. The details were revealed during a joint press conference held on Friday by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and the Indian Army.
Officials confirmed that the shelling also damaged a local gurdwara and surrounding residential areas, indicating that civilian sites were deliberately targeted. According to the MEA and the Army, a total of 16 people have been killed and 59 injured so far in recent Pakistani shelling.
In a measured but firm response, the Indian Army carried out precision strikes on four known terrorist camps across the border. Military officials emphasized that any harm to civilians is completely unacceptable and assured that Indian security agencies are maintaining heightened vigilance along the border.
