Una, May 9: In light of escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, the Himachal Pradesh government has begun implementing precautionary measures following a central government alert. As a first step, all educational institutions in Una district have been ordered to remain closed today.
Given Una’s proximity to the Punjab border, the move is being taken strictly as a safety precaution. State Education Minister Rohit Thakur stated that based on the advisory received from the Centre, the state government has empowered all district collectors to take appropriate action, including the closure of educational institutions, depending on local circumstances.
“The government is fully alert and is adhering to all guidelines issued by the Centre,” Thakur said. “District administrations have been given the authority to act as needed in response to evolving conditions.”
He also affirmed that the Himachal Pradesh government stands firmly with the Government of India and the Indian Armed Forces. Special monitoring is being carried out in border areas, and in Una, both public and private institutions have been shut down as a precaution.
The administration has urged the public to maintain calm and avoid spreading or reacting to rumors.
