Tragic Accident in Himachal: One Killed, Three Injured After Army Truck Collides with Two Cars
Solan, May 5:
A tragic road accident occurred on Monday morning near Chakki Mod on National Highway-5 in Solan district, Himachal Pradesh. According to reports, a speeding Army truck collided with two cars, killing one person on the spot and seriously injuring three others.
The incident took place around 10 a.m. when Shehzad, a taxi driver from Chandigarh (vehicle no. PB01E0405), was en route to Shimla with passengers. Near a sliding point past Chakki Mod, one lane of the four-lane highway was damaged, causing traffic from both directions to converge onto a single lane. An Alto car (HP64B 5684) was driving ahead of Shehzad’s taxi when an Army truck (14D194129E), coming from the Shimla direction at high speed, veered into the wrong lane.
The truck first rammed into the Alto, severely crushing the vehicle, and then hit the taxi. Local residents quickly responded and helped rush the injured to the nearest hospital.
Vinod Kumar (29), a resident of Maseran village in Nehri tehsil, Mandi district, died on the spot. The three injured have been identified as Balbir Singh (29), son of Sher Singh from Kotli Lajpat village, Bhomag tehsil, Reasi district, Jammu & Kashmir; Rajiv Kumar (40), son of Madan Lal from Shivshankargarh, Kandaghat tehsil; and Shehzad, the taxi driver from Chandigarh.
Preliminary investigations suggest the accident was caused by the Army truck driver’s negligence and excessive speed. The driver has been identified as Naik Gitesh Kumar Singh (32), son of the late Manoranjan Prasad Singh, a resident of Sirsia village in Purnia district, Bihar.
