Tensions Between Himachal CM and Deputy CM Over Shimla Ropeway Project, Says Jairam Thakur
Mandi, May 5:
Amid simmering tensions between Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister, former CM and Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur has launched a scathing attack on the state government, accusing it of internal discord and corruption.
Speaking in Mandi, Thakur alleged that the ongoing dispute between the CM and Deputy CM revolves around the upcoming ropeway project in Shimla. According to him, the Chief Minister is allegedly pushing to award the project to a particular company, while the Deputy CM insists on floating a global tender to ensure transparency.
He further claimed that a recent attempt was made to influence the Deputy CM, Mukesh Agnihotri, by sending Cabinet Minister Anirudh Singh to Una in a helicopter arranged by the same company. “This infighting within the Congress has exposed the corruption happening under the current administration,” Thakur remarked.
Thakur didn’t stop there—he accused the present government of leading Himachal toward ruin. “Neither the public nor the party’s own ministers, MLAs, or workers trust this government anymore,” he said, referring to a recent incident in Bilaspur where a Congress leader publicly criticized his own party.
Calling the open conflict between the CM and Deputy CM “unfortunate,” Thakur added that the people of Himachal now clearly see the need to oust the Congress-led government. “Only a BJP government can bring the state back on the path of development, free from such internal squabbles,” he asserted.
