Mandi, April 30: The historic town of Mandi—also known as Chhoti Kashi—echoed with the chants of Lord Parshuram as a grand procession was taken out for the first time to mark his birth anniversary. Organized by the Brahmin Sabha, the event witnessed enthusiastic participation from the local community.

The vibrant procession, which began at Sanskar Bhawan, made its way through the city before concluding at the starting point. Adding to the spiritual fervor were the traditional chariots of Goddess Kali from Purani Mandi and Goddess Chamunda from School Bazaar. The rhythmic beat of drums and enthusiastic chants of “Jai Parshuram” filled the air, creating a divine atmosphere across the city.

Earlier in the day, a statue of Lord Parshuram was ceremonially installed at Sanskar Bhawan, where a havan (sacred fire ritual) was also conducted to offer prayers for collective well-being. Om Raj Sharma, District General Secretary of the Brahmin Sabha, mentioned that prayers were also offered for the peace of those who lost their lives in the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam.

Prakash Chand Sharma, General Secretary of the Sadar Unit of the Brahmin Sabha, informed that a grand community feast (bhandara) will be organized tomorrow to continue the celebrations. Traditional Mandiyali Dham will be served as part of the prasada. Additionally, a collective yagyopaveet (sacred thread) and karnavedh (ear-piercing) ceremony will also take place at Sanskar Bhawan. Families wishing to perform these rites for their children are invited to attend.
