Forensic Services Directorate, Junga Signs MoU with Punjabi University, Patiala

Shimla, April 29:
The Directorate of Forensic Services, Junga, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Department of Forensic Science at Punjabi University, Patiala. The MoU was formally signed by Dr. Meenakshi Mahajan, Director of the Directorate, and Dr. Sanjeev Puri, Registrar of Punjabi University. Present at the signing ceremony were Dr. Komal Saini, Head of the Forensic Science Department, Professor Dr. Rajinder Singh, and retired Professor Dr. Mukesh Kumar Thakur.

Dr. Mahajan noted that the agreement would open up new avenues for research and collaboration for both institutions. She emphasized that, given the growing importance of forensic science in modern criminal investigations, this partnership would enhance the capabilities of the Directorate’s forensic services.

By collaborating with the esteemed faculty of Punjabi University, Dr. Mahajan said the Directorate aims to strengthen its research output and technical expertise. The partnership will also benefit university students, who will gain exposure to state-of-the-art forensic equipment and scientific mentorship from the Directorate, enabling them to undertake cutting-edge research. This collaboration is expected to foster innovation and deepen the understanding of forensic science techniques among both students and professionals.

Dr. Sanjeev Puri expressed pride in partnering with the Directorate of Forensic Services in Shimla Hills, Junga, recognizing it as a key contributor to solving high-profile criminal cases. He highlighted that the collaboration will offer students hands-on experience with real-world crime scenarios, providing invaluable insights into forensic investigation.

Dr. Puri added that the MoU will strengthen both institutions’ capacity to deliver advanced training and education in forensic science. He concluded that the partnership will not only enrich academic learning but also support the law enforcement community in tackling complex criminal challenges effectively.
