Amit, a talented young man from the small village of Bhatodi in the Shillai constituency of Himachal Pradesh’s Sirmaur district, has achieved what millions aspire to — clearing the country’s most prestigious and challenging examination, the UPSC Civil Services Exam, securing an All India Rank (AIR) of 809.
Amit’s journey to success is not an ordinary tale. It is a story marked by unwavering perseverance, unbreakable determination, and relentless hard work. Life threw several hardships his way, but Amit never wavered. In 2023, he faced one of his life’s greatest tragedies — the untimely loss of his father, who passed away at the age of just 48 due to a heart attack. Despite the deep personal loss, Amit gathered himself like a rock and kept his focus firmly on his goal.
Amit received his early education at a school in his village. Later, he pursued hotel management and completed his graduation. Due to financial challenges, his college education couldn’t be regular, but he refused to give up. Shouldering family responsibilities, Amit started working in the private sector. During this time, he got married and became a father to two sons. Even as responsibilities grew, he never let his dreams fade.
By the time Amit was 33, the odds seemed stacked against him — increasing age, mounting responsibilities, and limited attempts remaining. But as the saying goes, if you truly desire something with all your heart, the universe conspires to help you achieve it. That’s exactly what happened with Amit. With sheer dedication, he cleared the UPSC examination, securing the 809th rank.
Initially, due to some technical discrepancies, there was uncertainty about his result, but Amit personally visited the commission in Delhi to verify and confirm his success. Once the confirmation came, celebrations erupted across Sirmaur and Himachal Pradesh. Speaking about Amit’s achievement, his uncle, Atma Ram Sharma, expressed immense pride and joy.
Amit’s story stands as a powerful reminder that no matter how tough the circumstances, true dedication and hard work will always lead to success. Today, Amit has become an inspiration for countless young aspirants across the country.
