Shimla, April 19: In a move aimed at clearing long-standing dues and speeding up development projects, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has directed the Finance Department to release all pending payments to contractors of the Public Works Department, Jal Shakti Department, and other related departments by April 30, 2025.
Chairing a high-level review meeting with senior finance officials, CM Sukhu emphasized the importance of financial discipline and timely disbursement to maintain trust and momentum in state-run projects.
Health Sector and Welfare Schemes Also Prioritized
The Chief Minister also ordered the early clearance of pending medical bills under the Himcare Scheme for institutions like IGMC Shimla, PGI Chandigarh, and Tanda Medical College.
In addition, he instructed the release of the next installment for beneficiaries of the Sahara Yojana, a welfare scheme that provides financial support to critically ill patients from economically weaker sections.
State’s Economic Outlook Showing Positive Signs
CM Sukhu noted that Himachal Pradesh’s financial condition is improving, thanks to a series of effective reforms and strategic planning by the state government. “We are moving towards a stronger economic framework, and the timely payment of dues is a part of our commitment to transparency and governance,” he said.
Principal Secretary Finance Divesh Kumar and Special Secretary Saurabh Jassal were present during the meeting, where detailed discussions were held on fund allocation and disbursal timelines.
With this directive, contractors and welfare beneficiaries alike are expected to get long-awaited relief, boosting public confidence in the state’s governance and financial management.
