BJP MLA from Mandi Sadar Anil Sharma
Mandi, April 15 – BJP MLA from Mandi Sadar, Anil Sharma, has come out strongly against what he called a campaign of misinformation surrounding the proposed indoor stadium project. In a statement to the media, Sharma clarified that he does not do politics under pressure from the opposition, taking a direct dig at critics and “self-styled leaders” politicizing the issue.
Refuting claims that he changed his decision regarding the stadium’s location under pressure, Sharma said that the original proposal for Paddal Ground still stands, with funding under the Khelo India initiative in progress. However, he added that the Sports Department is also exploring an alternative site at Raghunath Ka Padhar, and if the land is acquired, the location may shift.
“Four-Hour Hunger Strikes Don’t Work on Me,” Says Sharma
Taking a jibe at protestors, Sharma remarked, “Some people stage hunger strikes after breakfast and leave for lunch at 4 PM – maybe they thought they could pressurize me with four-hour fasts.” He emphasized that such theatrics hold no sway over his decisions and urged the public not to fall for misleading narratives.
Criticism of Retired Officers and Misrepresentation in Media
Sharma also criticized retired government officers who, he alleged, are now part of organizations opposing the stadium project. “Some of these officers are now thanking me for changing the location and getting funds approved – do they even know how government funding works?” he questioned.
The MLA alleged that certain media and social media platforms misrepresented his statements, creating confusion among the public. He reaffirmed that his decisions are made in public interest, not under political pressure, and that the final location will be based on feasibility and government approvals.
As the debate around the indoor stadium’s location continues, Anil Sharma called on citizens to focus on facts and not get swayed by politically motivated narratives.
