Mandi, April 16 – In a significant moment for local journalism, the newly elected executive members of the Press Club Mandi officially assumed their roles on Tuesday. Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Rohit Rathore administered the oath of office and secrecy to the new office bearers in a ceremony held at the Press Club building in Mangwain.

The ceremony saw the swearing-in of Monica Thakur as Vice President, Hans Raj Saini as General Secretary, and Bhagat Singh Guleria as Treasurer. The officials were warmly welcomed with a shawl, cap, and bouquet, symbolizing the respect and unity within the journalistic community.

A Moment of Pride and Reflection

Speaking at the event, ADC Rohit Rathore said, “This is the first time in my career that I’ve seen a press club run in such a democratic and disciplined manner. It’s truly a matter of pride.” He also spoke on the vital role of journalism in shaping society and maintaining accountability.

Senior members of the club, including former presidents and veteran journalists, took the opportunity to reflect on the history of the Press Club, the challenges faced in constructing the Press Bhawan, and the future of media in the region. Notable speakers included Birbal Sharma, Ankush Sood, and D.P. Gupta, who shared insights into past struggles and the path ahead.

Vision for the Future

Newly appointed President Subhash Thakur laid out his vision for the Press Club, stating that strengthening the institution and safeguarding journalists’ interests will be his top priorities.

The event concluded with a traditional Mandyali Dham, fostering camaraderie among members. Senior journalists and long-time contributors to the Press Club including Murari Sharma, Radha Krishna Verma, Balak Ram, and Vinod Rana, were also present, adding to the dignified atmosphere of the event.
