Shimla, April 13:
In a historic move to revolutionize the education sector, Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu flagged off an educational tour of 70 teachers from across Himachal Pradesh to Singapore on Saturday. The initiative, aimed at upgrading teaching methodologies and providing global exposure, is part of the state’s broader vision to make Himachal a leader in quality education by 2032.

Speaking at the send-off ceremony, CM Sukhu emphasized that travel and global exposure enhance knowledge and innovation in the teaching community. The state government has partnered with the prestigious Principals Academy of Singapore to provide world-class training, a first-of-its-kind initiative designed to strengthen the foundation of government schools.

“This international tour will improve the skills, knowledge, and teaching methods of our educators, which will directly benefit the students,” Sukhu said.

Quality Education at the Core

The Chief Minister proudly shared that recent reports, including the 2025 ASER (Annual Status of Education Report), ranked Himachal Pradesh highest in reading levels among schoolchildren nationwide. “The positive impact of our reforms is clearly visible. We are committed to introducing a modern and inclusive curriculum focused on the all-round development of students,” he added.

The CM also announced plans to introduce General Knowledge as a subject, and underscored the need for curriculum upgrades to match global standards. He reiterated the state’s commitment to deploying the most qualified teachers and addressing the declining enrollment in government schools with strategic interventions.

Transforming Education Through Innovation

Education Minister Rohit Thakur revealed that 267 teachers have already been sent to Singapore, and the program will continue. “This is not just a tour; it’s a transformative movement for education in Himachal,” he said. The government is also planning international study tours for government school students, ensuring equitable access to global learning experiences.

Educational kits were distributed to the participating teachers during the event. Secretary of Education Rakesh Kanwar and State Project Director Rajesh Sharma highlighted other innovative efforts under Samagra Shiksha, including the cluster school system and digital upgrades.

A Vision for 2032

With a sharp focus on quality, innovation, and global partnerships, Himachal Pradesh is positioning itself as a model state in the Indian education landscape. The state government’s proactive approach is not only equipping teachers with international exposure but also setting a strong foundation for future-ready students.

“This journey will be an inspiration, and I am confident these teachers will bring home knowledge that will reshape classrooms across Himachal,” CM Sukhu concluded.
