Vimal Negi Death Case: Former MD Harikesh Meena Gets Interim Relief from High Court, Stay on Arrest Till May 2
Shimla, April 9: The former Managing Director of Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation (HPPCL) and senior IAS officer Harikesh Meena, who has been named in the mysterious death case of Chief Engineer Vimal Negi, has been granted interim relief by the Himachal Pradesh High Court. The court has extended the period of his interim bail and issued a stay on his arrest until May 2, 2025.
In a hearing on Wednesday, the High Court directed the police to continue their investigation and ensure Harikesh Meena’s full cooperation. The court emphasized that Meena should undergo necessary interrogation as part of the ongoing probe.
The interim relief comes after the High Court had initially granted protection from arrest until April 9, which has now been extended. Meena had filed an anticipatory bail petition, seeking relief from potential arrest in connection with the death of Chief Engineer Vimal Negi, whose death has raised significant questions regarding foul play.
During the hearing, the police presented a status report opposing Meena’s interim bail, arguing that his continued presence in police custody was crucial for ensuring a fair and comprehensive investigation into the case.
