Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Power Station Breaks Records with 7421.453 Million Units of Energy Generation
Shimla, April 1 – SJVN’s flagship 1500 MW Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Power Station has set a new benchmark in energy generation, producing an astounding 7421.453 million units of electricity in the financial year 2024-25. This remarkable achievement marks the third-highest annual energy generation since the plant’s inception, underscoring its critical role in India’s renewable energy sector.
The previous record for the third-highest annual generation stood at 7313.784 million units, achieved in FY 2015-16. The highest-ever generation remains 7610.257 million units, recorded in FY 2011-12, followed closely by 7445.431 million units in FY 2019-20. This year’s performance is a testament to the plant’s operational efficiency and the unwavering commitment of its workforce.
In addition to setting a new annual record, Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Power Station achieved several historic milestones in FY 2024-25. On August 13, 2024, the plant recorded its highest-ever single-day generation of 39.572 million units. July 2024 witnessed the highest monthly generation at 1222.170 million units, while the second quarter of FY 2024-25 saw the highest quarterly output of 3450.98 million units. Furthermore, the station achieved the second-fastest design energy milestone of 6612 million units on December 1, 2024.
Project Head Ashutosh Bahuguna credited this historic accomplishment to the dedication and hard work of every department within the power station. He particularly praised the operational and maintenance teams, along with the dam team, for their exceptional performance.
