Himachal Pradesh Government Appoints Additional Charges to 16 Officers

In a recent administrative reshuffle, the Himachal Pradesh government has granted additional charges to 16 officers, most of whom are from the Himachal Administrative Service (HAS). A formal notification outlining the changes was issued by the Chief Secretary today. These adjustments, meant to streamline operations and address administrative demands across various districts, reflect a proactive approach to managing the state’s administrative affairs.
Om Kant Thakur, an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the 2020 batch, has been assigned the additional charge of Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Bali Chowki in the Mandi district. Thakur is currently serving as the Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) in the Sadar region of Mandi. His expanded responsibilities are expected to enhance the district’s governance.
Preet Pal Singh, an officer of the Himachal Pradesh Administrative Service (HPAS) from the 2013 batch, has been given the additional charge of the Additional Director of Jawahar Lal Nehru Government Medical College in Chamba. Singh, who is presently the Assistant Commissioner to the Deputy Commissioner (AC to DC) in Chamba, is set to play a crucial role in overseeing the functioning of the medical college alongside his regular duties.
Another key assignment sees Narendra Kumar-I, an HPAS officer from the 2015 batch, who is currently serving as the Assistant Settlement Officer in Solan, being given the additional charge of AC to DC in Solan. This move is aimed at strengthening the district’s administrative framework.
Vivek Sharma, who joined the HPAS in 2016, has been entrusted with the additional responsibility of Joint Director of Dr. YS Parmar Medical College in Nahan. Sharma is presently the AC to DC of Nahan, and this added duty will further bolster the administration in the region, particularly in the healthcare sector.
Pradeep Kumar, an HPAS officer of the 2018 batch, will continue his work as the Regional Transport Officer (RTO) of Kangra, but with an added role as RTO for the Flying Squad in Kangra. This move is expected to improve the enforcement of transport regulations and enhance road safety efforts in the region.
Swati Dogra, an HPAS officer of 2019, who is currently serving as the SDO (Civil) of Sarkaghat, will now also take on the role of SDM of Dharampur, also in the Mandi district. This change comes as part of the government’s effort to ensure better coordination between various administrative units within the district.
Mahendra Pratap Singh, another officer from the 2019 batch of HPAS, who is serving as the SDM of Kasauli, has been given additional charge as the Assistant Commissioner (Protocol) of Parwanoo. Singh’s expanded duties will include managing the protocol and coordination for the district.
Abhishek Barwal, an HPAS officer of 2022, is set to take on an expanded role in Kinnaur. Barwal, who currently serves as the Assistant Commissioner (Revenue) in Kalpa, will also assume the responsibilities of AC to DC and ITDP Project Officer for the district.
Laxman Singh, also an HPAS officer from the 2022 batch, has been assigned the additional charge of SDM of Thunag in the Mandi district. He is presently the SDO (Civil) of Chachiot in the same district.
The list of additional assignments continues with Dr. Abhishek Singh Thakur, an HPAS officer of the 2023 batch, who is working as the Block Development Officer of Shillai. He has now been given the additional charge of SDM for Shillai, thus expanding his role in local governance.
Mohan Lal, another officer from the 2023 batch, has been appointed as the SDM of both Kotkhai and Jubbal, two critical sub-divisions in the state. This dual assignment underscores the government’s trust in his administrative skills.
Padma Chhodan, an HPAS officer of 2023, has been given a dual charge, taking on the responsibilities of District Tourism Development Officer of Solan, as well as the Managing Director of the Jogindra Central Co-operative Bank Limited, also based in Solan. This additional charge will see Chhodan overseeing the development of tourism in the region alongside her banking responsibilities.
In another significant development, Anil Kumar, who is currently serving as an Under Secretary in the Education Department (HPSS), has been assigned additional duties as Under Secretary in the Finance Department, reflecting the government’s intent to align administrative functions more closely.
Additionally, the Tehsildars of Jawali (District Kangra), Bangana (District Una), and Tisa (District Chamba) have been given the additional charge of SDM for their respective areas of jurisdiction. These appointments are part of the government’s strategy to ensure smooth functioning of administrative tasks at the grassroots level.
These new assignments aim to improve the functioning of various departments and ensure that the administrative machinery is more responsive and efficient in serving the people of Himachal Pradesh.
