Shimla Drenched in the Colours of Holi: Joyful Celebrations of Holi at Raj Bhavan and Chief Ministers Residence
Shimla, Mar 14: The picturesque hill station of Shimla was on Wednesday decked in colourful hues as the state celebrated the festival of Holi in an evocation manner. The atmosphere echoed joy, togetherness, and celebrations, from the prestigious Raj Bhavan to the official residence of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu. The festival was celebrated with political hoardings with colourful faces of people and festive residents and well-wishers enjoyed the day.
Holi in Raj Bhavan
On Holi, Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla held a cultural program at Raj Bhavan, where he welcomed leaders from all over the state. The event at the Raj Bhavan was held in a cordial atmosphere where leaders exchanged greetings and festive cheer.
Among dignitaries who attended included Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, his wife and MLA Kamlesh Thakur, Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Pathania, Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur, Minister Vikramaditya Singh, Dhaniram Shandil, and Congress president Pratibha Singh. During the celebrations, the leaders were spotted exchanging festive greetings and colours, and chatting away.
Governor Shukla wished everyone on Holi, also applying tilak to some of the distinguished guests present. In his address, the Governor also said that Holi is a festival of unity and harmony and crosses all social, cultural and religious barriers. He added that Holi, the festival of colours represents love, fraternity and communal harmony which unites people to rejoice the victory of good over evil.
The Governor also noted about continuous combat against drug abuse in Himachal Pradesh. He said the response from every village in the state where the campaign reached was positive. As it is a festival of joy and refreshment, Holi is also a better occasion to spread awareness and reinforce the need to fight against social evils, including drug abuse,” he said and appealed to the people of the state to work harder for creating drug-free Himachal Pradesh.
Welcoming Crowd lines Outside Chief Minister’s Residence
As the festivities continued through the state, a crowd of people descended on the residence of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu to celebrate Holi and exchange greetings. It was a day full of merriment, with people of all kinds celebrating at the Chief Minister’s residence. The Chief Minister was accompanied by his wife Kamlesh Thakur, Minister Vikramaditya Singh, Congress President Pratibha Singh and several other leaders and residents.
In his Holi message, the Chief Minister wished the people of Himachal Pradesh a joyous and prosperous festival. “I give my warm wishes for the festival of Holi to the people of Himachal Pradesh on this auspicious occasion,” he said. “May this festival of colours fill all the homes with happiness, prosperity and peace and may the spirit of unity and harmony continue to thrive in our state.”
Leaders Extend Warm Wishes
Various political leaders also greeted the people of Himachal Pradesh on the occasion of Holi, emphasizing love, unity, and preservation of culture on the festival.
Hailing Holi as a festival of love, affection and harmony, the Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Pathania, in his message, wished Happy Holi to all the people of the state. Himachalis should join their hands together to move towards the path of progress for the state, he said.
Leader of Opposition and former Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur also took to social media to extend Holi greetings, underscoring the cultural significance of the festival in Himachal Pradesh. He also urged citizens to celebrate responsibly and not get drunk and indulge in hooliganism. “Himachal Pradesh is a culturally diverse state and our Holi celebrations are manifestation of our colourful traditions,” he said. “Let us all celebrate Holi with love and respect towards each other, keeping in mind our cultural values.”
Issuing a statement on the occasion, Congress President Pratibha Singh congratulated the people of the state and hoped for a better tomorrow. “May the splendor of Holi bring joy, harmony, and peace to all. “May this festival fill our lives with love and brotherhood,” she said, wishing well for people of Himachal Pradesh.
“I wish that this festival would bring happiness and prosperity in the lives of all of you,” Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh said in a statement. “The holy festival of Holi imbibes a spirit of brotherhood and cooperation for the development of Himachal Pradesh,” he added.
