Himachal: Overtakes As Leading Exporter With Plans To Produce 20 Lakh Rainbow Trout Eyed Eggs
Shimla, March 05: Himachal Pradesh has become one of the major exporters of good quality rainbow trout eyed eggs in country and it has strengthened its place as a leading state for rainbow trout farming in country. The state’s fisheries industry has made great efforts to supply this eggs to states like Uttarakhand, Sikkim, and Arunachal Pradesh.
Thanks to various state schemes, progressive trout hatchery fish farmers have contributed 9.05 lakh rainbow trout eyed eggs in Uttarakhand alone. It is all part of the large increase in trout agriculture seen in the state, both public and private. The Himachal Pradesh Fisheries Department has bred 12.60 lakh rainbow trout eyed eggs and 1.74 lakh brown trout eyed eggs from its eight government farms across the state. These farms are in the districts of Kullu, Mandi, Shimla, Kinnaur, and Chamba.
