Himachal Pradesh Announces New IT-Based Courses That Will Prepare Youth to Meet Future Challenges

Shimla, February 26: In a significant development to secure the future of youth in Himachal Pradesh, the state government has introduced various new degree and diploma courses in its government engineering and polytechnic colleges. These classes give students the actual ability to successfully compete in contemporary technical industries like Artificial Intelligence (AI), Data Science, and Civil Engineering.
The state government approved the establishment of a future-oriented base of diploma courses in Rajiv Gandhi Government Engineering College,Nagarota Bagwan, and Atal Bihari Vajpayee Government Engineering and Technology Institute, Pragatinagar, and Government Polytechnic Sundernagar under visionary led Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu. These new offerings will lead to specialized training to help build the next generation and the talent pool to help fill the employment pathways in fast-moving fields.
The spokesperson of the state government said that especially in the field of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, these courses are being seen as a ’backbone’ of modern industries. “These courses will equip students with cutting-edge knowledge on data-driven technologies, enabling them to take on pivotal positions in data analytics- and AI-focused industries.”
Rajiv Gandhi Government Engineering College will introduce a new Bachelor’s programme in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science which has the potential to redefine the type of students aspiring to work in the tech industry. This course will help students learn the skills required for analyzing complex data, building AI models, and understanding complex algorithms running behind data science applications. With the world needing more AI experts, the course is likely to provide enormous job opportunities for youths in the national and international markets there.
Government Polytechnic Sundernagar introduced Proprietary Diploma Course in Computer Science and Engineering (AI and Machine Learning) which imparts hands-on knowledge, technical knowledge amongst students regarding Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. The subjects will prepare them for critical roles in the area of automation, data analytics, and software development which will evolve in the next decade.
Also, a Civil Engineering degree course has been started at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Government Engineering and Technology Institute in Pragatinagar. This course will contribute to filling the growing skills gap in state infrastructure construction. Specialization in the civil engineering field will provide graduates with high-paying job opportunities, career advancement, and civil engineers trained in this area will also contribute to the development of the state’s infrastructure.
These courses form a part of the larger strategy that the state has to incorporate new age technology into the education curriculum while also preparing a ready-to-go workforce. The spokesperson added that the courses aim to give students hands-on experience and learn to use technology to make decisions with good judgement.
