Himachal: Forest Clearance Received for Construction of Three Heliports, CM Ordered Work to be Completed as Soon as Possible
Shimla, February 26: In a significant boost to air connectivity and tourism infrastructure in Himachal Pradesh, the state government has got stage-one clearance from the Central Government for the construction of three heliports. These heliports will also be set up in the interiors of Holi and Pangi in Chamba district and near the Green Tax Barrier in Manali, Kullu district. This Development is to Access these areas especially for Tourist and to boost Local Economy.
The stage-one approval, including forest clearance for the heliport sites, had been successfully achieved, a government spokesperson confirmed. This clearance is a key milestone in the development of the vital air transport hubs. The state government has also been allowed to complete the formalities required for the project to be progress within stipulated time.
Fast-track Decision by CM Sukhu
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu is monitoring the project’s progress closely and has instructed officials to cause no delay in construction work. Particularly important is to expedite the clearance of the forest in the project site so as to avoid any delay in the project time line, said the CM.
“We are dedicated to improving air connectivity in Himachal Pradesh. These heliports are not only for augmenting the transport infrastructure but for promoting tourism, generating employment and giving a boost to local economy,” CM Sukhu said in his directive.
According to the Chief Minister’s office, the heliports would help in providing access to remote and scenic regions of the state thus promoting tourism. Heliports would have the additional benefit of providing faster and safer access for emergency services, adding to the state’s infrastructure.

The heliports in Chamba and Kullu will serve a significant purpose in enhancing connectivity, especially to tourists visiting famous sites in the area. This is a step towards the ambitious plan the state government has put together to construct 16 heliports on selected district headquarters and tribal areas, to enable air travel in the state.
