Investiture ceremony after 5 years at Raj Bhavan, 76 winners of Police, Home Guard and Civil Defense honored
Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla honored 76 winners of Police, Home Defense and Civil Defense and Life Saving Medals in the ‘Investiture Ceremony’ organized at Raj Bhavan today.
Shimla, February 14: Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla honored 76 winners of Police, Home Defense and Civil Defense and Life Saving Medals in the ‘Investiture Ceremony’ organized at Raj Bhavan today.
Among the medal winners, Commandant General of Home Guard and Civil Defense Satwant Atwal Trivedi and Additional Director of CBI New Delhi N. Venugopal were awarded the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Services. This ceremony was held after five years. Earlier, this ceremony was organized in the year 2020.
Congratulating the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service and the persons honored for commendable service, the Governor said that their excellent services are an example for the society and inspire others to work for the society. He said that the responsibility of maintaining peace within the state lies with the police and the police is fulfilling this responsibility in a better way.
Shiv Pratap Shukla said that police officers and jawans are working strongly against drug abuse in Himachal. Many police personnel were also awarded today for the campaign against drug abuse. He expressed confidence that their cooperation will inspire others to eradicate this evil. He said that the role of police and home guards is very important in a hilly state like Himachal Pradesh. Despite the difficult geographical conditions here, the contribution of these jawans in maintaining law and order is commendable. He said that police and home guard jawans are doing remarkable work in disaster management, crime prevention, traffic control and maintaining law and order in the society.
The Governor said that the Himachal Pradesh government and the Central government are working with commitment to strengthen the law and order. He said that schemes like smart policing, digital surveillance, disaster management training and availability of modern security equipment are increasing the capacity of police and home guards.
Padma Shri Vidyanand Sarek and Nek Ram were also present on the occasion.
Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Aniruddh Singh, Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Omkar Chand Sharma, Director General of Police Dr. Atul Verma, Mayor of Shimla Municipal Corporation Surendra Chauhan, Political Advisor to the Chief Minister Sunil Sharma, Secretary to the Governor Chandra Prakash Verma and senior officers of Police, Home Guard and Civil Defence Department and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
