Dehradun, February 11: Himachal Pradesh’s women’s handball team etched its name in history by securing back-to-back gold medals at the 38th National Games. In an intense final match held at the Manoj Sarkar Stadium in Rudrapur, Udham Singh Nagar, Uttarakhand, Himachal defeated Haryana with a score of 46-39, securing the gold for the second consecutive year. Despite their hard-fought effort, Haryana’s team had to settle for silver.
The final day of the National Games featured both men’s and women’s handball finals, and the women’s final was an exhilarating contest between Himachal and Haryana. Himachal dominated the first half, scoring 21 goals to Haryana’s 18. After a brief halftime break, both teams came out aggressively, but Himachal’s players maintained their momentum to seal a decisive win.
Himachal Pradesh’s success didn’t stop there, as the state’s women’s Kabaddi team continued its reign of dominance. They clinched the national title for the third consecutive time, showcasing the state’s strength across multiple sports at the prestigious event.
