New Leadership Sparks Hope for Naga Unity
The Working Committee (WC) of Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs) installed MB Neokpao Konyak as the new convener, along with working conveners P Tikhak Naga and Isak Sumi, during a solemn ceremony at Hotel Saramati. Leaders from various Naga political groups, civil society organizations, and student bodies, including the Naga Students Federation, were present.
Konyak, a veteran of the Naga political struggle for over 51 years, highlighted the need for unity amid growing factionalism, calling it a setback for Nagas and a win for external forces. He urged civil society and students to support the NNPGs’ efforts toward unity.
Echoing his sentiments, Tikhak and Sumi emphasized honesty, sacrifice, and introspection to correct past mistakes and strengthen the movement. NSCN/GPRN (R) President Wangtin Naga stressed the importance of upholding the “Agreed Position” with the Indian government, urging solidarity despite past divisions.
