The Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs) have taken a major step forward by appointing MB Neokpao Konyak as their new convener. Alongside him, P Tikhak Naga and Isak Sumi have also taken charge as working conveners. The installation ceremony at Hotel Saramati brought together leaders, student bodies, and civil society groups, all hoping for a stronger, united Naga movement.

Konyak, a veteran in the Naga political struggle, did not hold back his concerns. He called the rise of multiple factions a “shame” for the Nagas and a “happiness” for the Indian government. He urged everyone to look back at past mistakes, correct them, and move forward together. His words struck a chord: unity is the only way to achieve their long-standing goals.

Will this leadership change bring real unity, or will divisions continue? The road ahead is uncertain, but one thing is clear—NNPGs must stand together now more than ever.
