Himachal government will present its side in the Godavarman case pending in the Supreme Court
Shimla, 07 February: A meeting of the Cabinet Sub-Committee constituted to provide relief to small and marginal farmers and landless families was held here under the chairmanship of Revenue and Horticulture Minister Jagat Singh Negi. Education Minister Rohit Thakur was also present in the meeting. Legal aspects for small and marginal farmers and landless families were discussed in the meeting.
Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi said that earlier also during the assembly session, a proposal was unanimously passed for appropriate amendment in FCA 1980 and sent to the Central Government so that relief could be provided to small and marginal farmers and landless families. The Revenue Minister said that in the Godavarman case pending in the Supreme Court, the Himachal Pradesh Government will also present its side and file a petition to implement the provisions of the 1952 notification in reference to the Forest Act 1927.
State Planning Commission Chairman Nand Lal, Additional Chief Secretary Omkar Chand Sharma, Principal Secretary Law Sharad Kumar Lagwal, Forest Force Chief Sameer Rastogi and Chief Forest Conservator Anil Sharma were also present in the meeting.
