HP: Statement of Vidhan Sabha Secretariat on allegations of alleged rigging in recruitments, allegations baseless, recruitments done with transparency
Shimla, 06 February: There is a political uproar over the recent recruitments in the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly. The opposition party BJP has demanded a fair inquiry alleging irregularities in these recruitments. The BJP says that in these recruitments, candidates from some constituencies have been given priority and this is raising questions on transparency. At the same time, the Assembly Secretariat has issued a press release on Thursday and rejected these allegations outright and claimed that the entire process has been done in a transparent manner.
Complete transparency was maintained in recruitments
The Assembly Secretariat issued an official statement saying that misleading and factless and baseless allegations are being made in some newspapers and social media platforms regarding the recruitments done in the Assembly. The spokesperson of the Assembly Secretariat said that the recruitment process in Himachal Assembly has always been done through private secretariats like the Raj Bhavan, High Court and Public Service Commission. No change has been made in this and all the recruitments have been done in accordance with the reservation rules and standards set by the Supreme Court.
The spokesperson also said that since the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly came into existence, candidates from all districts have been appointed as per their eligibility in the recruitment process. This time also, merit has been taken into full consideration in the recruitments and no biased process has been adopted.
Details of district-wise appointments in recruitments
According to the data released by the Legislative Assembly Secretariat, till now candidates from various districts have been selected in the Assembly. Among them, 37 from Shimla, 11 from Sirmaur, three from Bilaspur, seven from Hamirpur, 36 from Kangra, three from Una, five from Chamba, 49 from Mandi, one from Kinnaur, 14 from Solan, one from Kullu, two from Uttarakhand and one from Chandigarh have been appointed.
He said that in the recent recruitments, the district wise appointments include two candidates from Shimla, two from Sirmaur, one from Bilaspur, seven from Hamirpur, one from Kangra, one from Una, 15 from Chamba, two from Mandi and one from Lahaul-Spiti.
Allegations being leveled against the Speaker of the Assembly are unconstitutional
The Assembly Secretariat has rejected these allegations and said that the post of the Speaker of the Assembly is a constitutional post and it is completely unconstitutional to level such allegations against him. The spokesperson said that the news being spread in the media and social media is misleading and is being published without checking the facts. He clarified that casting aspersions on persons holding constitutional posts without facts is not only inappropriate but also comes under the purview of breach of privilege.
