Shimla, 05 February: Himachal Pradesh was facing drought for a long time, but now the weather has changed. There has been rain in many areas of the state and snowfall at high altitudes. This has brought great relief to farmers and gardeners. This rain will prove beneficial for wheat and other crops. At the same time, snowfall has become a boon for apple orchards.

The tourist places have also returned to their glory. There has been fresh snowfall in Manali, Narkanda, Kufri and Solanganala, due to which there is a lot of enthusiasm among the tourists visiting here.

Snowfall has been occurring in the high altitude areas of the state since last night. The upper parts of Lahaul-Spiti, Kinnaur, Kullu, Chamba, Shimla and Sirmaur districts are covered with snow. Apart from Rohtang Pass, there has been heavy snowfall in Shinkula, Baralacha and Kunjum Pass. Both ends of the Atal Tunnel are also covered with snow. Apart from this, fresh snowfall has also occurred on the hills of Hanuman Tibba, Indrakila, Chandrakhani, Hamta, Bhrigu and Dashauhar.

Vehicle movement has been affected due to snowfall in Lahaul-Spiti district. Traffic has also been partially affected near Narkanda on Shimla-Rampur National Highway-5.

Rain and strong storm in the plains The weather also took a turn in the plains of the state. Heavy rain occurred in Kangra, Mandi, Hamirpur and Una districts. Some trees fell due to strong storm and lightning in Dadasiba area of ​​Kangra, disrupting power supply. According to the Meteorological Department, good snowfall and rain were recorded in different parts of the state.

Saluni – 44 mm, Kasaul – 30 mm, Karsog – 24 mm, Bhuntar – 21 mm, Jogindernagar – 19 mm, Banjar – 18 mm, Shimla – 16 mm.

Temperature dropped, cold increased
The change in weather has increased the cold. The temperature has reached below zero in many areas. Tabo – -4.3 °C, Keylong – -4.2 °C, Kukumseri – -0.9 °C, Kalpa – -1 °C, Shimla – 3.3 °C, Manali and Bharmour – 0.2 °C, Dalhousie – 0.4 °C.

Weather will change again from 8th

According to the Meteorological Department, snowfall may continue in the upper areas and rain in other parts on Wednesday as well. Warning of thunderstorm and lightning has also been issued at some places. 6 and 7 February – Weather likely to remain clear, but yellow alert for dense fog in the plains. 8 to 11 February – Western disturbance will be active, which may lead to rain and snowfall again.
