CM Sukhu will lay the foundation stone of Himachal’s first green hydrogen project on 5th February

Shimla, 4 February: Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu is determined to make Himachal Pradesh the first green energy state of the country by March 2026 and on 05 February 2025, Himachal will initiate excellent innovation in this direction. The Chief Minister will lay the foundation stone of Himachal’s first major green hydrogen project in Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh, the largest industrial area of ​​the state, on 5th February 2025.

Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu will lay the foundation stone of 01 MW green hydrogen plant at Dabhota in Nalagarh assembly constituency of Solan district. This green hydrogen plant, to be built with an investment of about Rs 9.04 crore, will have the capacity to produce 423 kg of green hydrogen per day. The target has been set to complete the construction work of this project within 18 months.

Under the visionary leadership of the Chief Minister, the state is continuously moving towards becoming the first green energy state of the country by March 2026. The state government is working to achieve the target of 500 MW solar power in the state through innovation and other decisive solutions. The state’s largest 32 MW solar power project is operational at Pekhubela in Una district.

Various projects are being built to make the state a completely green state. Work will be done to establish 05 solar parks of total 501 MW capacity and solar power projects of 212 MW capacity in Una, Kangra, Solan, Sirmaur, Mandi and Shimla districts.

The state government signed a Memorandum of Understanding with All India Limited on April 26, 2023 for the establishment of a 01 MW green hydrogen plant to be set up at Dabhota. This agreement focuses on the development of solar energy, green hydrogen, geothermal energy and compressed biogas.

04 thousand square meters of land has been identified for the construction of this project in Dabhota. Hydrogen will be produced in this plant using electricity obtained from renewable energy sources. This plant will promote clean energy ecosystem by bringing about a massive reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.

About 1 lakh 54 thousand 395 kg of green hydrogen can be produced in this plant every year. All these efforts of the state government are a pledge of the state’s commitment towards sustainable energy solutions and these efforts will not only make Himachal the first green energy state of the country but will also set an exemplary example for the country.
