Shimla, January 29: The Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC) has received 1.27 lakh applications for 1,088 constable vacancies in the Himachal Pradesh Police. Physical tests for the recruitment will begin on February 6 across the state. The applicants include 88,202 men and 39,562 women, vying for 708 men’s posts and 380 women’s posts.

Sources reveal that although the minimum qualification for applicants is Class 10+2, many possess advanced degrees, such as M.Tech, B.Tech, and both master’s and bachelor’s degrees. All online applicants are genuine residents of Himachal Pradesh, aged between 18 and 29 years, based on their category. The application period ran from October 10, 2024, to December 31, 2024.

Officials have announced that the Physical Standard Test (PST) and Physical Efficiency Test (PET) will be conducted across all 12 districts, grouped into three police ranges: North, South, and Central. The first PST/PET is set for February 6 at the Police Ground, 3rd Battalion Pandoh in Mandi, followed by tests in Una district on February 11 at the Police Lines Ground Jhalera. The final test will take place on March 27 at Mini Stadium Kalpa in Kinnaur district. Candidates who successfully pass the PST and PET will be eligible for the written examination.

An official confirmed that female candidates will be tested first, followed by male candidates. All candidates are required to report to their designated test venues by 7 a.m. on their scheduled dates. Meanwhile, HPPSC has released e-admit cards and advised candidates who have not received theirs to contact the commission for assistance.

All newly recruited police constables will undergo a nine-month induction training program, which includes a Recruit Training Course (RTC) conducted in batches. After completing basic training, recruits will also undergo a Special Commando Course. Failure to pass either the RTC or the Special Commando Course will lead to termination of service.
