If BJP would have been in power again in Himachal, UCC would have been implemented in Himachal as well: Jairam Thakur
Shimla, January 27: In an informal conversation with media representatives at his official residence in Shimla, Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur said that Uttarakhand has become the first state in the country to implement the Common Civil Code (UCC). For this, the central leadership as well as the Uttarakhand government deserve congratulations. In response to media questions, he said that if BJP would have been in power again in Himachal Pradesh, Uniform Civil Code (UCC) would have been implemented in Himachal Pradesh as well. UCC is the demand of the country today and the Bharatiya Janata Party has also expressed its commitment to the Uniform Civil Code in its manifesto.
Responding to media questions, Jairam Thakur said that the platform of Himachal Pradesh’s full statehood day was politically misused by the Chief Minister. No one had given such a speech from such a non-political platform till date. During his hour-long speech, the Chief Minister only cursed the former Bharatiya Janata Party government and lied.
Even after completing 2 years of tenure, if the government blames the opposition instead of telling its achievement, then it is clear that the government lacks material to speak. Such a platform is an opportunity to tell one’s contribution to the development of the state as well as to share one’s future plans, but unfortunately the Chief Minister misused this platform. The occasion of Purna Statehood Day is always a day to dedicate something or the other to the people of the state, but in this too every section of the state was disappointed.
The condition of health in the state is not hidden from anyone. God knows what will be the condition of the rest of the state’s remote areas, but the system in the state capital and the state’s biggest medical college is very serious and worrying. The way the government is turning a blind eye to this matter, the coming times are going to be even more frightening.
Jairam Thakur said that in order to increase the income of the state, the government has in principle approved the cultivation of cannabis, but the way drug addiction is increasing in the state, drugs are penetrating every village, this decision can be challenging in itself. His Excellency has also expressed his concerns in this regard. The state also has similar concerns. If it moves beyond the pilot project and comes on the ground, then the government should make a complete outline about how to prevent its misuse, so that this system is not misused under any circumstances. The government should take effective steps in this direction and assure the people of the state.
The Leader of Opposition also expressed deep concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in the state and said that at present such cases of crime are coming to the fore in the state which were never heard or seen before. Such crime cannot even be imagined in Devbhoomi. Everyday news of murders of people, rape of women, atrocities on girls have become common. The main reason is that the people who are responsible for security have been engaged in other works by the government. Therefore, I request the Chief Minister to take law and order seriously and deal strictly with those who disturb the law and order of the state.
