People are angry over stopping of electricity subsidy in Himachal Pradesh and have raised the demand to the state government not to stop the electricity subsidy
(Solan) Himachal Pradesh, Kumud Sharma, January 21:
Nalagarh: People are angry with the Himachal Pradesh government for stopping electricity subsidy. People in Nalagarh are angry with the government for not getting this facility. People say that the government had promised to give 300 units of free electricity before coming to power, but now the government is going back on its promise.
Local residents said that the government is now preparing to take back the subsidy from farmers as well. They appealed to the government not to stop the subsidy and also said that KYC of meters is being done through the electricity board and the government is trying to stop 125 units of electricity.
An elderly person said, “The facilities that the government has given earlier for 125 units should remain in force. The government had given 300 units in the manifesto. Understand, if they are not giving 300, then they should give 125. Farmers should get subsidy.”
Another citizen said, “It was said in the manifesto by the government that the 300 units We will give it free to everyone. Now when the time has come to give it free, the government seems to be going back on its promise. Now they are doing KYC. If someone has more than one meter in his name, they are checking it and many other things. Whereas they had not said anything in the manifesto that they will check these things and then give it to this person. Now many Basis are being checked. So what they are doing by doing KYC in everything is very wrong.”
SDO Nalagarh C.R. Verma said that the government has asked for data through KYC of meters and in the absence of KYC, one can be deprived of subsidy.
