Lohri festival was celebrated in a unique way in Chamba - torch procession was taken out from Mohalla Surara of the city
Chamba, Sourabh Jaiswal: Lohri festival was celebrated in different ways in Chamba today. People carry out the age-old tradition and take out torch procession on the day of Lohri.
In this sequence, a torch procession was taken out from Surara Mohalla in Chamba in the form of Raj Mushahra late last night and during this, local residents told that according to old beliefs, Chamba city is believed to have been established by tantric method. At that time seven male and seven female bonfires (Marhia) were established and even today, on the night of Lohri, a trident-shaped Mushahra is raised from Rajmani in the city and following the tradition, it has to be seen in all the bonfires (Marhias).
