Shimla, 07 January: A dreadful fire broke out in Kutara village of Spail Valley of Rohru subdivision in Shimla district on Monday night. The whole village was shaken by a sudden fire in a two-storey wooden house. In this unfortunate incident, 70-year-old Dosari Devi, mother of house owner Shyam Lal, succumbed to burns. The house was totally burnt to ashes in the fire.

The fire flared up in a horrific manner

On Monday night around 9, Shyam Lal suddenly caught fire in his house. It was a wooden house, and the fire spread rapidly through the whole house. During that time, relatives and children were also inside the house. Once the fire became known to them, the family attempted to flee in order to save their lives. But in the chaos, Dosari Devi could not make it out of the house and got trapped in the flames.

Fearing a catastrophe, the villagers did their best to put out the fire

As the home was situated in the midst of the village the news of the blaze quickly travelled through the village. Villagers attempted to douse the flames with whatever they had on hand, including pumps and power sprays. People also attempted to put out the fire by fetching water from tanks in their homes. But the blaze was so ferocious that no one could get ahead of it.

Immediately on receiving the information of fire, fire vehicles were sent from fire station Rohru. However, as the village is in a remote area and far away, it took half an hour for fire vehicles to reach the spot. By the time fire vehicles arrived there, the house was reduced to ashes.
