Himachal Pradesh Government Transfers IPS and HPPS Officers
Key Changes in Police Leadership and New Appointments
Shimla, January 06: The Himachal Pradesh government has issued a series of transfer orders for senior police officers, including both IPS (Indian Police Service) and HPPS (Himachal Pradesh Police Service) officers. A total of two IPS officers and four HPPS officers have been relocated to new positions, according to notifications issued by the Chief Secretary.

Transfer of IPS Officers
Among the changes for IPS officers, DIG Cyber Crime Mohit Chawla has been reassigned as the Principal of the Police Training College (PTC) in Daroh, Kangra District, with the previous officer handling the role, IPS Soumya Sambasivan, being relieved of her duties. Meanwhile, IPS Ompati Jamwal has received a promotion and will now serve as the new Deputy Inspector General (DIG) for Welfare and Administration at the Police Headquarters in Shimla. This position had previously been held by the Inspector General of Welfare and Administration.
Additionally, the government has canceled the transfer of IPS officer Arvind Chaudhary, who was originally slated for a post at the Police Training College in Daroh.
Transfer of HPPS Officers
In the Himachal Pradesh Police Service, Virendra Kalia has been transferred from his role as Leave Reserve SP at the Police Headquarters in Shimla to a new posting as Leave Reserve SP at the State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau in Shimla. Naresh Kumar will also move from his Leave Reserve SP role at the Police Headquarters to become the SP at the State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau’s Southern Range, Shimla. IPS officer Anjum Ara has been relieved from this post.
Raman Sharma, who had been awaiting a posting at the Police Headquarters, has now been appointed as SP for the Intelligence and Security Department in Dharamshala, Kangra District. Additionally, Khazana Ram, also awaiting posting, will now serve as DSP at the 4th Indian Reserve Battalion in Jungleberi, Hamirpur District.
These changes reflect the ongoing reshuffling of key officers within the state’s police force.
