Shimla Winter Carnival: Session Six Spreads Sound and Rhythm
Kartik Sharma (Shimla)/ Sunday, 05 January: The Shimla Winter Carnival attracted several Indian Idol celebrities, entertaining the crowd of locals and tourists alike. Amid the renowned backdrop of Himachal Pradesh, Shimla, Neha Dixit took the stage on the sixth evening of the Shimla Winter Carnival.
Beginning with her main track ‘Kehna Hi Kya’, the one she performs at the start of every show, which was also the one she sang during her audition. It’s important to mention the reel that went viral featuring Shreya Goshal, who complimented the local resident from Neri, Shimla.
Deeper into the carnival she performed a softer tune Kehna Hi Kya, adjusting the pace before singing Chikni Chameli, Tumhi Ho Bandhu, Aaj Ki Raat and several others.
Dance and Tune that featured pahari folk vocalists
It is indeed true that the folk music and songs from the area are what attract people to the genuine excitement to dance and appreciate the vibrant culture. A large part of the evening featured the Pahari Singers, including Vicky Dasta from Kotkhai, who performed popular songs like Shella Laga, meaning feels cold, and Dunge Naluye, where the audience danced to the slow nati, a special dance celebrated here in Himachal Pradesh.
The Mayor of MC, Surinder Chauhan, along with all the councilors of MC Shimla, the residents and the visitors grasped the rhythm and the atmosphere, participating in the dance.
Sanjay Shyam Thakur also took over the Pahari Music, enticing the crowd to dance.
Sanjay Shyam Thakur performed the folk melody that honored ‘Tebni Mahadeva’, a deity, devta from Karsog in the Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh.
Rishabh Sanhotra also didn’t fall behind in the show.

Amidst a night filled with folk, Rishabh Sanhotra performed Jogia, Lagan-Lagan and Jugni.
The night was bustling with people, some dancing in their places while others extended to the Goofa restaurant and returned.
The Shimla Winter Carnival, featuring the performances of the aforementioned artists, added a lovely charm to the string of memories connected to Himachal Pradesh and its atmosphere.
