Himachal Pradesh Directs Ban on Non-Educational Social Media Content in Educational Institutions
Shimla, January 04: The Directorate of Higher Education in Himachal Pradesh has issued a crucial directive aimed at curbing the rising trend of non-educational videos and social media usage in schools and educational institutions. The Directorate’s decision comes after reports highlighted that certain teachers and staff members were making non-educational videos and reels during school hours, which did not contribute to students’ academic, co-curricular, or overall development. These distractions, according to the Directorate, not only hinder students’ focus on their educational goals but also expose them to unnecessary and potentially harmful social media content.
To ensure a more productive environment, the Directorate has instructed institutional heads to enforce strict vigilance and prevent such activities. Teachers and students are now encouraged to engage in meaningful and developmental activities such as academic improvement, sports, and personality development, fostering responsible future citizens.
The order, issued by Dr. Amarjeet Sharma, Director of Higher Education, seeks to realign students’ focus towards their education and overall well-being, promoting their growth as well-rounded individuals.
