Family Calls for Fair Investigation After Rajindra Kumar’s Tragic Death
Dalhousie: The murder case of Rajindra Kumar, a General Manager at a private hotel on the Dalhousie-Banikhet road, has taken a dramatic turn as his family demands a CBI investigation. They have expressed concerns about the involvement of a hotel employee in the incident, suggesting that the employee had close ties with the accused and may have influenced the initial investigation.
The incident occurred on New Year’s night, when a scuffle broke out between hotel staff and police personnel. The altercation escalated when Rajindra Kumar, who attempted to intervene, became involved. During the scuffle, all three individuals fell from the parking pole, leading to Kumar’s tragic death.

Kumar’s family is now demanding that the hotel employee suspected of involvement be named as an accused in the case. They have voiced dissatisfaction with the progress of the investigation, urging that the authorities ensure fairness and transparency in handling the case.
The post-mortem of Rajindra Kumar’s body was carried out at the Medical College Chamba on Thursday, under the supervision of forensic experts. His cremation followed later that day, adhering to Hindu customs.
The death has caused widespread shock in Dalhousie, with local businesses in Dalhousie Cantt closing in mourning. The Dalhousie Hotel Association has pledged financial support to Kumar’s grieving family.
An SIT (Special Investigation Team) has been formed to investigate the case. The medical examination of the police personnel accused of being involved in the incident has been completed, and they are expected to be presented for police remand in court on Friday. SP Chamba, Abhishek Yadav, assured that the investigation is proceeding according to legal procedures, emphasizing its impartiality.
The investigation is ongoing to determine the exact chain of events leading to Rajindra Kumar’s death, and two police personnel have been named as accused. The family’s call for a CBI probe reflects their concerns over the transparency of the local investigation and their desire for justice.
