Shimla/Chamba, January 01: A heartbreaking incident occurred at Nature Valley Banikhet, one of the top hotels in Chamba district, Himachal Pradesh, where the hotel’s General Manager (GM), Rajinder Singh, tragically lost his life while attempting to mediate an argument between the hotel’s front manager, Sachin, and a policeman, Anup, stationed in the Tissa area. The incident unfolded around 1:30 am on New Year’s night, following a heated exchange between the policeman and the front manager, which escalated into a scuffle. While attempting to resolve the situation, GM Rajinder Singh fell in the hotel parking area, succumbing to injuries, while the front manager and policeman sustained serious injuries.

Details of the Argument and Incident

The incident reportedly took place after a grand New Year’s party was held at the hotel until midnight. About an hour and a half later, as Policeman Anup was returning from his duty at a blockade in Tissa, he stopped at the hotel for food. A disagreement arose between him and the hotel’s front manager, Sachin, over a minor issue. The argument intensified, leading both individuals to step outside the hotel onto the road. GM Rajinder Singh attempted to intervene and calm the situation. However, during the confrontation, all three – Anup, Sachin, and Rajinder – slipped and fell in the hotel’s parking area. The altercation resulted in serious injuries for Anup and Sachin, while GM Rajinder was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition, where he was declared dead.

Investigation and Police Findings

Initial investigations by Dalhousie Police have ruled out any intentional attempt to murder, though they are also exploring the possibility of unintentional homicide. DSP Hemant Thakur of Dalhousie Police confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, focusing on the unintentional nature of the death. He also mentioned that the police are reviewing CCTV footage from the hotel’s parking area and road, along with the statements of witnesses present during the incident.

Dalhousie Police is taking swift action in investigating the case to uncover the truth and ensure accountability in the tragic death of GM Rajinder Singh. The case continues to be examined from all angles to bring clarity to the events that led to this unfortunate loss.
