Government’s Initiatives Focus on Rural Economy, Employment, and Green Energy

Shimla, January 01: In a joint press statement, Assembly Deputy Chief Whip Kewal Singh Pathania and MLA from Nahan Assembly constituency Ajay Solanki praised the Congress government, led by Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, for its focus on creating a self-reliant and prosperous Himachal Pradesh. They declared 2024 as a “year of historic achievements” for the state, highlighting the Sukhu government’s ongoing efforts to implement welfare policies that are benefitting the citizens and laying the foundation for a bright future.

Empowering the Rural Economy

Pathania and Solanki emphasized several key initiatives taken by the state government to transform the rural economy. The government has introduced a policy where cow milk is being procured at Rs. 45 per liter and buffalo milk at Rs. 55 per liter. Additionally, a state-of-the-art milk processing plant is being constructed at Dhagwar in Kangra district at an investment of Rs. 300 crore, aimed at strengthening the rural economy.

The state is also purchasing maize grown through natural farming at Rs. 30 per kg and wheat at Rs. 40 per kg. Furthermore, the government has increased MNREGA wages by Rs. 60, making it Rs. 300 per day. The HP Shiva project, worth Rs. 1,292 crore, has been launched to boost the horticulture sector in the state.

Tourism and Employment Growth

In addition to rural development, the state government has focused on creating employment opportunities through tourism initiatives. The introduction of water sports activities in Gobind Sagar Lake in Bilaspur district has already provided local people with new employment avenues. The government has also approved water sports activities at Pong Dam, further contributing to tourism development. Additionally, efforts are underway to establish Kangra district as the tourism capital of the state.

Commitment to Green Energy and Holistic Development

The government has also placed significant emphasis on green energy, with various initiatives aimed at making Himachal Pradesh a leader in sustainable energy, which will help strengthen the state’s economy. Moreover, the government is committed to the holistic development of people from all regions and communities in the state, ensuring that every citizen benefits from progress.

Vision for a Self-Reliant and Prosperous Future

Pathania and Solanki expressed confidence that under Chief Minister Sukhu’s leadership, Himachal Pradesh will become self-reliant by 2027 and emerge as the most prosperous and happiest state in the country by 2032. They affirmed that 2024 will be remembered as a crucial year in the state’s development journey, with lasting impacts on the welfare of its citizens.
