Shimla, 27 December: In response to the death of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, the Himachal Pradesh government has declared seven days of state mourning to honor his memory and contributions. During this period, the national flag will fly at half-mast across the state, and no entertainment or cultural events will be organized by the state government.

Additionally, the state has announced a two-day government holiday on 27th and 28th December, which will affect all government offices, schools, colleges, and educational institutions. The holiday will also extend to all government boards, corporations, and other government entities across Himachal Pradesh. This move is a tribute to Dr. Singh’s legacy as a distinguished economist and former leader.

The state government’s order specifies that no cultural or entertainment programs will be held until January 1, 2025, in light of the mourning period. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu expressed profound sadness over Dr. Singh’s passing and extended his heartfelt condolences, praying for the peace of his soul.
