BBN: The HP State Pollution Control Board (HPSPCB) marked its 50th Foundation Day with a grand celebration, reflecting on its pivotal role in environmental protection and sustainability. The event was held with great enthusiasm, with the office premises undergoing a thorough cleaning and beautification process. The surrounding area was also cleared of garbage, enhancing the office’s aesthetic appeal. The lift, which had been out of service for some time, was reinstated, and the building was adorned with vibrant, colorful decorations to mark the special occasion.
Assistant Environment Engineer Pawan Kumar, who shared insights into the significance of the event, noted that the Central Pollution Control Board was established in 1974, and since its inception, the Himachal State Pollution Control Board has worked tirelessly to promote and protect the environment. Kumar emphasized that the primary objectives of the Board include tackling air pollution, managing plastic waste, addressing climate change, and controlling emissions from vehicles. A significant focus of the Board’s efforts has been the promotion of electric vehicles and the encouragement of public transport to reduce the environmental footprint.
On this momentous occasion, Kulveer Jamwal, President of the Him Industrial Welfare Assembly, extended his warm wishes to the Board and presented a bouquet to Pawan Kumar. Jamwal commended the industrialists and business houses for their contributions to making Baddi a leading industrial hub in Asia. He also urged the business community to adhere to timelines and ensure timely execution of projects for the continued growth of the region. He acknowledged that Baddi’s success as an industrial center is largely due to the concerted efforts of its industries, and it is the government’s responsibility to provide the necessary support and facilities to foster industrial growth.
The celebrations culminated with the cutting of a cake by all officers and employees to mark the Golden Jubilee year of the Himachal Pollution Control Board. This occasion not only highlighted the Board’s contributions to the environment but also reaffirmed its ongoing commitment to improving the state’s environmental standards.
