Shimla, December 21: A significant case of chitta smuggling has been uncovered in Shimla, with three individuals arrested after a raid at a PG in the Cemetery area. The Special Cell team acted on a tip-off and conducted the operation, leading to the recovery of 9.350 grams of chitta.
The raid took place on Friday evening when the police, acting on secret information, identified the PG as a location where chitta was being sold. Upon arriving at the scene, two of the accused, Trilok Negi from Chirgaon, Rohru and Suraj Prakash from Malyana, Shimla, were caught red-handed. However, a third suspect, Anupam from Rohru, managed to flee the area during the raid.
The police team pursued Anupam and successfully apprehended him shortly after. The arrested individuals are currently being questioned, and authorities are investigating the origin of the drugs and the suspects’ possible connections to a larger chitta smuggling network. Shimla SP Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, with all three accused now in police custody.
