New Delhi – BJP MP Anurag Singh Thakur has leveled serious allegations against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of physically assaulting BJP MPs during a protest outside Parliament. Thakur, alongside fellow MPs Bansuri Swaraj and Hemang Joshi, filed a formal police complaint at the Parliament Street police station, citing multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code, including charges of provocation and attempted murder.

The incident reportedly took place near the Makar Dwar of Parliament House, where BJP MPs were protesting Congress’s alleged disrespect toward Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. Thakur claimed that Gandhi pushed BJP MPs Mukesh Rajput and Pratap Chandra Sarangi, resulting in injuries that required medical attention.

Thakur condemned Gandhi’s actions, telling the media, “Rahul Gandhi believes he is above the law. His arrogance and blatant disregard for the rules have reached alarming levels. Today, he physically attacked peaceful MPs, causing injury. This type of behavior is absolutely unacceptable in a democracy.”

The BJP’s protest centered around accusations that the Congress party has historically undermined Ambedkar’s contributions to the nation. The protesters raised slogans such as “Insult of Babasaheb, Hindustan will not tolerate,” demanding an apology from the Gandhi family and other Congress leaders.

Thakur also accused Congress of consistently sidelining Ambedkar’s legacy. “Jawaharlal Nehru did everything to defeat Ambedkar in elections, and Congress leaders awarded themselves honors like the Bharat Ratna while neglecting Ambedkar’s legacy. It was only during the Janata Dal government, supported by the BJP, that Ambedkar was posthumously awarded the Bharat Ratna,” he remarked.

Thakur praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for recognizing Ambedkar’s contributions, highlighting initiatives like the establishment of the “Panch Teerth” and the declaration of Constitution Day.

The altercation outside Parliament has further escalated tensions between the BJP and Congress during the ongoing winter session. Thakur described the incident as a deliberate provocation by Gandhi, stating, “This is not the first time Rahul Gandhi has shown such irresponsible behavior. His actions today are a direct challenge to parliamentary order and law.”

The police complaint against Gandhi includes charges under sections 109, 115, 117, 125, 131, and 351 of the Indian Penal Code. BJP leaders are now calling for strict action against Gandhi, arguing that such behavior could set a dangerous precedent for parliamentary conduct.
