Bharari (Bilaspur): Cement prices in Himachal Pradesh have seen an increase of Rs 5 to Rs 20 per bag, with dealers attributing the rise to the discontinuation of discounts by cement companies. As a result, consumers are now paying more for popular brands such as ACC and Ambuja cement.

Pawan Barur, an ACC cement dealer, explained that ACC Suraksha cement, which was previously sold at Rs 430, is now priced at Rs 440 per bag. Similarly, the price of ACC Gold cement has risen from Rs 480 to Rs 485. Another dealer, Rohit Sharma, noted that Ambuja cement, which was once available for Rs 435, is now being sold for Rs 455 per bag.

According to dealers, cement companies used to offer regional discounts, which allowed them to sell the product at lower rates. However, with the discontinuation of these discounts, the prices have been adjusted accordingly. The price hike has left many consumers and construction businesses in the region facing higher costs for building materials.
