Shimla: As the winter session of the Himachal Pradesh Assembly is set to take place from December 18 to 21 at the Tapovan Assembly building in Dharamshala, security arrangements have been significantly heightened. The region has been divided into five security zones to ensure smooth functioning during the session, with additional measures in place to secure both the assembly premises and the surrounding areas.
The Tapovan Assembly building has undergone a complete makeover, with freshly painted walls and decorative lights installed around the building. To prevent any security breaches, checkposts have been set up in key locations, and CCTV cameras have been installed both within Tapovan and across the Dharamshala market. The police will meticulously monitor everyone entering the area, including government officers, employees, media personnel, and visitors. Identification checks will be conducted for those approaching the ministers’ rooms with complaints, ensuring only authorized individuals can gain access.
Director General of Police (DGP) Atul Verma has been overseeing the security arrangements with great attention to detail, holding frequent online meetings with Inspector General of Police (IG) Abhishek Dullar and the local Superintendent of Police. These meetings are focused on reviewing and refining security measures, and a police team is scheduled to depart from the headquarters on Monday to ensure the arrangements are in place.
Over 1,200 police personnel and home guards will be deployed to handle the security for the entire area, from Dharamshala city to the assembly premises. On December 17, jawans from various battalions will arrive to assist with the session’s security. According to IG Abhishek Dullar, police forces will be stationed at strategic points throughout Dharamshala and Tapovan, ensuring that movement in and out of the area is carefully monitored. Only individuals whose names are on an approved list will be allowed entry into the assembly building.
Meanwhile, government employees in the State Secretariat and Directorate in Shimla were not taking a holiday break. Despite the day off, they were actively preparing answers to questions posed by the legislators for the upcoming session. The employees kept their offices open in Shimla, ensuring all necessary responses were ready. Additionally, government buses have been arranged to transport the employees from Shimla to Dharamshala ahead of the winter session, ensuring seamless coordination for the assembly proceedings.
With all the necessary security measures in place and thorough preparations underway, authorities are ensuring that the upcoming winter session in Dharamshala runs smoothly and without incident.
