(Kartik Sharma) Jais Ghati, Shimla: Rajiv Ranjan, a visionary entrepreneur and native of Bhopal, is all set to bring a ray of hope to the apple growers of Himachal Pradesh by launching a one-of-its-kind bio-fertilizer plant. Named the Jais Khaad Factory — and the English equivalent Jais Organic Manure and Bio-Fertilizer Industry — the project is dedicated to promoting organic farming with eco-friendly bio-fertilizers developed under his own expertise at his own site.

The plant, strategically located in Jais Ghati Industrial Area, has completed its infrastructure phase and is expected to be operational within the next six months. Jais Ghati, a hub for emerging businesses, offers an ideal industrial location for Rajiv’s ambitious venture to bring the vision of organic farming with a good yield to the grassroots.

A Cornerstone for Apple Growers
The factory’s location has been carefully chosen to serve apple growers from key regions including Kotkhai, Rohru, Jubbal, Rampur, and Kinnaur. Rajiv highlighted the factory’s accessibility, stating, *”The location is on the main road, making it easier for farmers to pick up their products and transport them conveniently in their own vehicles.”

Innovative Products for Farmers
Rajiv’s one and only product, Neem ki Kali, is a rich source of NPK (Nitrogen, Phosphorus, and Potassium) and acts as a natural disinfectant, an evil eye for apple plants and other crops. Currently, it is the only product of its kind available in the market. In an interview with Diary Times, Rajiv shared insights about the government’s PM Pranaam Yojana, an initiative to promote organic farming by incentivizing reduced use of chemical fertilizers.

Rajiv also shared a humorous anecdote about a satisfied customer who complained that his apple tree’s branches couldn’t bear the weight of the fruit produced after using Farm-Mix, another organic fertilizer developed by Rajiv. “Farm-mix has been made with components like castor and neem, which decompose naturally into the soil without causing harm, unlike chemical fertilizers that stick to roots like cement,” he explained.

Empowering the Local Community
Beyond agriculture, Rajiv’s long-term vision includes collaboration with local ITI, ITI Theog to be specific, their students and the nearby farmers. He aims to develop their technical skills by providing training on machines used in the plant, fostering education and employment opportunities in the region.
