Union Tourism Ministry approved a project of Rs 63.34 crore for the development of Himachal’s tourism sector

Shimla, December 13: Himachal Pradesh has received a big gift from the Central Government. The Union Tourism Ministry has approved a project of Rs 63.34 crore for the development of tourism sector of Himachal Pradesh. This amount will be used to increase tourism facilities and improve infrastructure in the state.

Union Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat gave information in this regard in the Rajya Sabha. He said that the Ministry of Tourism has approved 76 projects worth Rs 5,287 crore 90 lakh across the country, which also includes a project of Rs 63.34 crore for Himachal Pradesh. This amount will be spent on various schemes to promote tourism in the state.

Projects under Swadesh Darshan Yojana

Shekhawat said that under the Swadesh Darshan Yojana, various places in Himachal Pradesh have been identified as special tourist destinations. Under this scheme, Pong Dam has been selected as a major destination. Apart from this, Kaza in Lahaul-Spiti district has been identified in the culture and heritage destination category and Chitkul in Kinnaur district in the lively village program destination category. The development of tourism at these sites will not only promote local culture but will also create new employment opportunities in the state.

Important contribution of MP Sikander Kumar

Himachal Pradesh MP Dr. Sikander Kumar, who raised questions in this regard in the Rajya Sabha, had sought help from the Union Minister for the development of the tourism sector of the state. He said that there is a need to promote tourism more in Himachal Pradesh, so that the economy of the state can be strengthened. It was only after his efforts that the Union Tourism Ministry approved the project.

Amount of Rs 7.66 crore approved for wildlife conservation

Responding to another question by Dr. Sikander Kumar, Union Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Kirti Vardhan Singh said that an amount of Rs 7.66 crore has been sanctioned for wildlife conservation in Himachal Pradesh. This amount has been given for the integrated development of wildlife habitats under the centrally sponsored scheme. Under the scheme, monitors will be deployed for poaching, forest fire protection and other monitoring work.

Current Status of endangered species

Union Minister Kirti Vardhan Singh also informed that no report has been received related to Himachal Pradesh, which mentions the extinction of critically endangered species. He assured that necessary steps will be taken to protect wildlife and their species in the state.
