HPTU's fifth convocation: Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla conferred 259 degrees and 110 medals to meritorious students
Hamirpur (Himachal Pradesh), 24 November, Sunday

Kumud Sharma, Diary Times: The fifth convocation of Himachal Pradesh Technical University, Hamirpur was concluded last Friday, His Excellency Governor Shri Shiv Pratap Shukla was present as the chief guest in the ceremony. He gave 259 degrees as well as 110 medals to the outstanding students of the university. In the ceremony, 59 students who took up higher education and pursued their careers got gold medals, while 51 students had to be content with silver medals. The best thing was that the girl students of the university received 162 degrees and 73 medals, while the boys received 97 degrees and 37 medals.

Addressing the ceremony, Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla highlighted the contribution of education in important discipline of life and social harmony. The Governor said, “The real test of education is in personal character, sensitivity towards society and authenticity of conduct.” The Governor gave a message to the outstanding students that by preserving the etiquette and experience learnt during the degree, they should become new inventors and job providers so that social upliftment can take place.

The Governor, while stressing on the implementation of the new National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 to the HPTU administration, said that today HPTU has become an important center of technical education in Himachal Pradesh. Along with this, Shri Shukla, while focusing the attention of the students on the utility of Atal Training School Lab and Pradhan Mantri Vidya Laxmi Yojana, said that through these important schemes of the Central Government, the students are not job seekers but can make a name in the society by giving jobs to thousands of people.

State Government’s Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani also addressed the function and said that now instead of taking jobs, students will have to think differently and adapt to the startup ecosystem, in which you have social challenges for ideas. Also, Dharmani told the students the importance of staying connected with the hill culture and developing themselves by continuously learning in different environments.

Shashi Kumar Dhiman, Vice Chancellor, HPTU Hamirpur threw light on the final report of the year, in which while mentioning the important points, Shashi Kumar Dhiman said that since the establishment of HPTU till now, the university has brightened the lives of more than 30000 students and this year the university is going to create a record by awarding degrees to 4801 students.

Niti Aayog member Prof. Vinod Kumar Paul was specially present in the fifth convocation of the university which was successfully concluded. Prof. Paul praised the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 implemented rapidly by the HPTU administration and also gave the idea to the graduating students to think big in their lives and keep working on having the hunger to achieve it.

Along with this, Prof. Paul highlighted the role of students sacrificing everything and adopting skill development to make their invaluable contribution in the important resolution of India to become a developed country in the year 2047.

On the closing ceremony of Convocation-2024, the students were made to take a pledge that they will create awareness in the society through education and will play their role responsibly in saving people from getting trapped in the drug menace which is rapidly spreading in Himachal Pradesh.
