Kumud Sharma, Diary Times: A sensational case of blanket dispute between under trial prisoners in the Chitta case has come to light on Saturday in Kaithu Jail of Himachal Pradesh’s capital Shimla. According to the information received from the Kaithu Jail administration, a prisoner has been seriously injured due to a heated dispute over the blanket, due to which the injured prisoner has been admitted to IGMC by the jail administration, where the condition of the injured prisoner is said to be out of danger.
The prisoner seriously injured in the blanket dispute has been identified as Gaurav by the Kaithu Jail administration. In the blanket dispute, the injured prisoner Gaurav has suffered a deep injury in his right eye. On the other hand, the prisoner accused of the blanket dispute has been identified by the Kaithu Jail administration as Dhruv, who is a Chitta smuggler from Shimla’s suburb Rampur.
Know how the blanket dispute started –
According to the Kaithu jail administration, on Saturday, when the two prisoners Gaurav Singh and Dhruv, who were arrested in the Chitta case this year, were returning to the barrack, a dispute started between them over the blanket and due to both the prisoners being locked in the same barrack, the dispute took a violent turn and in the fight between the two prisoners, Chitta accused prisoner Dhruv of Rampur attacked the right eye of the other prisoner Gaurav, after which the injured prisoner Gaurav was admitted to IGMC Shimla by the Kaithu jail administration, where after first aid, the condition of the injury on the right eye of the injured prisoner Gaurav is said to be out of danger.
After the blanket dispute, the entire matter was informed to the Boileauganj police station in-charge by the Kaithu jail administration, after which, considering the seriousness of the matter, an investigation officer has been immediately sent to IGMC Shimla where the statement of the injured prisoner Gaurav will be recorded.
Gaurav Singh and Dhruv Both are Chitta smugglers –
Shri Yog Raj, Superintendent of Kaithu Jail Administration said that both the prisoners Gaurav and Dhruv of the blanket dispute are Chitta smugglers, due to which both the prisoners were kept in Kaithu Jail as under trial prisoners in view of judicial investigation. Accused prisoner Dhruv was brought to Kaithu Jail on 28 October this year, while injured prisoner Gaurav Singh was brought to Kaithu Jail on 20 August this year.
According to the Jail Administration, injured prisoner Gaurav Singh has been arrested under NDPS (Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985), while accused prisoner Dhruv of Rampur is also a Big Chitta smuggler.
