Shimla Police Summons Hindu Leader Gopal Kapoor for Questioning Over Sanjauli Mosque Incident

Gopal Kapoor has been summoned by Shimla Police for questioning over his controversial social media statement on the Sanjauli Mosque dispute, with a two-day deadline to appear at Dhali Police Station.

Shimla, November 22: Shimla Police has summoned Gopal Kapoor, Hindu leader associated with the mosque movement in Mandi, to the police station for questioning. He has been sent a notice from Dhali Police Station in connection with the ruckus over Shimla’s Sanjauli Mosque. It states that Gopal Kapoor will have to appear at Dhali Police Station within two days of receiving the notice. If he does not appear at Dhali Police Station within two days, then he can be arrested.

Let us tell you that during the Sanjauli Masjid dispute in Shimla, he had given a statement on social media regarding the property of the Waqf Board. After this, Shimla Police had registered a case against him under various sections of the Indian Penal Code at Dhali Police Station. In such a situation, now he has been included in the investigation under subsection 3 of section 35 of the Indian Civil Justice Code. In such a situation, he has been asked to appear at Dhali Police Station within two days for questioning.

Meanwhile, Gopal Kapoor has posted on social media regarding the notice. In this, he wrote that Shimla police has sent me a notice blaming me for the agitation over illegal mosque construction in Sanjauli, Shimla. In the notice, I have been asked to appear in the police station within two days, otherwise I can be arrested. He has written on social media that the case should be transferred to Mandi police station or else I should be arrested and taken to Shimla. He said that this notice has been issued to me because of disclosing the Waqf Board property and it is believed that this is the reason for the agitation in Sanjauli.

Gopal Kapoor claims Dev Sthal in Mandi’s Jail Road Mosque

Gopal Kapoor, a resident of Mandi, is associated with Choti Kashi Sangharsh Samiti. He claims that the place where the mosque is built on Jail Road in Mandi. There used to be a Dev Sthal in Khasra number 1280 of that place. He alleges that the mosque has been built by occupying this place. Two days ago, people associated with the Hindu organization had protested in Mandi alleging illegal construction in the mosque.

Mandi police has also questioned Gopal Kapoor in the Mandi mosque dispute case. In the Mandi Mosque case, the police had registered a case against him at Sadar Police Station, Mandi on the charges of inciting religious sentiments of the people and creating tension by sharing posts on social media.
